The artist will share the story of the creation of the works, talk about his meditative practice of daily work, which formed the basis of his creativity, the underlying meanings, materials, and visual language, for which Bohdan found inspiration in the futuristic poetry of Mykhailo Semenko — the so-called poetry painting.

We invite you to the opening of the exhibition of Dnipro artist Bohdan Buchkovsky "Graze Pavlo the cowww", which will take place on October 24 at 6:30 PM at the Artsvit Gallery. The project will last until January 11, 2025.

This is the artist's first solo exhibition. The exhibition is composed of works created after the start of the full-scale invasion. The project tells about the path of restoring Bohdan's life and artistic practice, his search for a new visual language.

We invite you to watch the video art "Mechanobrchormet. The Path of Trials" - a unique video art that combines live improvisations by bandura player Marina Krut with a plastic performance by actor and director of the Academy of Movement Serhiy Belsky. The filming took place in the atmospheric environment of an abandoned institute, where numerous artifacts from its past have been preserved to this day, which created a unique scenography. The public screening will take place on October 17, and the director and producer of the project Serhiy Gusyatnik will present the video work via online connection. Starts at 6:30 p.m.

“Co-creation” is about a shared space for interaction and creativity, in which young people can learn more about themselves, about the cultural background on which they grow up, and about institutions that can be visited while traveling around Ukraine. We strive to encourage teenagers to dialogue, help them find like-minded people and expand the circle of live communication, which is currently sorely lacking; to show that culture and art are much closer to each of us and manifest themselves in everything, influencing our entire lives, than it seems.

We invite you to watch the experimental short film "What Should We Do with These Buildings?", which is about the unconscious dialogue between the Soviet architecture of Kharkiv and the city's residents. The public screening will take place on October 12, together with actor and co-producer of the film Mykola Naboka, as part of the educational performance program "DIYezmist", starting at 6:00 PM.

In October, Galina Neledva’s painting “Composition with Pipes” from the 1980s was presented in an exhibition titled “Displacements and Flows — Where the Dnieper and the Elbe Meet” at the French gallery Cité internationale des arts. The project is curated by Sasha Baydal and Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez, and the exhibition can be seen until January 18, 2025.

Finally, we are happy to announce the launch of a new course in the Artsvit educational program for kids — “Theatre Stories.” The project is dedicated to visual art, performance, and theater in particular.

Whether it’s building sets using only kraft paper, boxes, and paints, or creating a doll out of wool and fabric, writing a play script, applying makeup, designing props and costumes — children will become true puppeteers, decorators, costume designers, directors, stage designers, and engineers of their own stage.

The open competition for participation in the educational program on performance "DIYezmist" has ended and we are ready to announce the names of artists who will get to know each other today and together begin to master a new tool for their creative expressions.

The goal of the program: to introduce local artists to the diversity of performative practices, to draw attention to the multifaceted nature of performance, breaking it down into its individual components.

The educational course will include: lectures, seminars, workshops, work on your own performance, individual consultations with experts, and presentation of the results. We have invited practicing performers to share their experience, who will conduct master classes on five aspects of performative practices.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 14, 2024. The project will start on September 20.

How to work with wartime art: understand it, study it, systematize it, has the visual language become more complicated, how have images of war transformed over time? Art historian Olga Balashova will answer these questions.

In her lecture, she will talk about projects that work with memory, memorializing the events of the Russian-Ukrainian war. It is important to collect, record, preserve, research and process related information - not only works of art, but also text interviews with artists, videos and audio recordings.

We invite you to an event by Olga Marusyn, which will take place on July 27 - watch the first performance in Ukraine during the full-scale invasion, through which the artist will share several exercises, developed during constant travels abroad and back.

"In the second year of the war, I realized that the only thing that interests me (what makes sense to work on, what is worth paying attention to, what I can focus on), and I should be heard immediately and completely without interruption - is the search for eternal life," - Olga Marusyn.

Therefore, it is very important to undergo healing therapy, including through movement and art. We invite you to a free movement practice out door (in the fresh air), where we will work with breathing, body clamps and find our inner balance again. We will talk and create a performance.
