The exhibition tour will be led by Kateryna Radchenko, a Ukrainian curator, director of the Odesa Photo Days Festival, and head of the European jury of WorldPressPhoto 2023.

This year, Artsvit Gallery and Dnipro Center for Contemporary Culture were lucky enough to once again demonstrate the best examples of photojournalism and documentary photography for 2023 - the exhibition with the results of the World Press Photo competition will open on February 22, starting at 6:30 p.m.

The exhibition will feature 129 photographs that document war, protests, migration and climate crises, and other important events of 2023. The finalists were selected from over 61,000 works sent by 3,851 participants from 130 countries around the world. All photos are winners of regional competitions in the Long-Term Project and Open Format categories, as well as two special awards.

We are starting a new working year, and it is planned to be no less eventful and interesting than the previous one. So follow the announcements, join our educational programs and projects, visit exhibitions - we are always happy to see you!

The winter holidays are approaching and this is the time when you want comfort, the warmth of the family circle and a little magic. So we invite children and their parents to a Christmas workshop, where we will create magnets together with the author of the exhibition "Graze Pavlo the cowww" Bohdan Buchkovsky.

We will talk about the place of family holidays in our culture, think about the images associated with Christmas and embody them with our own hands. You will take this magnetic souvenir with you as a memory of this joint family leisure, as well as good emotions.

The artist will talk in more detail about his artistic practice: the techniques he uses in his work, his favorite themes and images, as well as past projects and series. We will also talk about the staged history, the path from idea to implementation, and the actual process of creating works — both those currently presented at the exhibition "Graze Pavlo the cowww" and those that were not included in the exhibition. The story itself will turn into a mini-excursion: we will physically walk through the gallery space together with the artist, who will be happy to answer your questions about his work, the exhibition, and his plans for the future.

This year's course was called "Theatre Stories" - the children learned about acting in its various manifestations: they learned to express their emotions with their bodies, work with associations, invent stage images and apply makeup, create sets and costumes, make their own puppets and even stage shadow plays. By the way, guests of the opening will become spectators of two children's plays and various theatrical props created during the classes, namely sketches of costumes, imaginary posters for performances and films, puppets for puppet theater and self-made sets.

From November 24 to 30, the director of the Artsvit Gallery, Iryna Polikarchuk, together with colleagues from Ukrainian institutions and initiatives — Anastasia Manulyak (Zapravka initiative), Natalia Ivanova (YermilovCenter), Bozhena Pelenska (Jam Factory Art Center), and Alyona Karavay (Assortment Room) — visited the Netherlands, organized by DutchCulture and TransArtists.

The purpose of the trip was to get acquainted with local residencies for artists and cultural activists and share their own experience of working during the war; to enlist support, think about cooperation, and exchange experiences.

For two months, teenagers aged 14 to 19 got acquainted with contemporary Ukrainian art and its representatives, explored the collection of the Artswit gallery and had 4 workshops: on performance, printing on fabric, sound design and video art. The goal of the program was to show young people various tools and media through which they can express themselves - to destroy the stereotype that art is only classical painting and to inspire creativity and interaction.

In the pop-up format, we will present the works of project participants created in master classes with experts. These will be both individual statements and collective ones, because in each session, the mentors suggested that teenagers create within the framework of a theme that united everyone's ideas, weaving all the works into a common narrative.

As promised at the opening of the exhibition "Graze Pavlo the cowww", we are sharing details about our new merch - a mini-artbook with works by artist Bohdan Buchkovsky.

Attention: the edition is limited - only 25 copies, and some of them have already been sold. Also, each edition is special and unique, because each artbook is personally sewn by the artist and has its own serial number. The cost of such a souvenir is 250 hryvnias.

Over the past two months, they have attended lectures and workshops with five experts in various performative practices (body and voice; word and text; movement and space; interaction with materials; spectator-participant) — both performing artists, choreographers, and theatergoers.

Based on the results of these meetings, the residents chose a mentor, from whom they received advice on how to improve their performance during individual consultations. What came of it, what exactly they prepared — we'll see!
