From November 24 to 30, the director of the Artsvit Gallery, Iryna Polikarchuk, together with colleagues from Ukrainian institutions and initiatives — Anastasia Manulyak (Zapravka initiative), Natalia Ivanova (YermilovCenter), Bozhena Pelenska (Jam Factory Art Center), and Alyona Karavay (Assortment Room) — visited the Netherlands, organized by DutchCulture and TransArtists.
The purpose of the trip was to get acquainted with local residencies for artists and cultural activists and share their own experience of working during the war; to enlist support, think about cooperation, and exchange experiences.
They visited the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, M4 Gastatelier, Air WG, de Appel, Rijksmuseum, Framer Framed in Amsterdam, Greylight Projects in Heerlem, Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, MAKE Eindhoven, De Fabrik in Eindhoven, European Ceramic Work Center in Oosterwijk. They met with the Dutch Culture team and TransArtists, Cultural Emergency Response and Manifesta Biennial; they also had meetings with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture of the Netherlands.
An important public event was the discussion-conversation on the challenges for the cultural sector of Ukraine during the war in de Balie.
We thank our Dutch colleagues for their openness and willingness to cooperate.
