In 2023, we launched the next stage of the "Artsvit for Kids" art program. And one of the primary and important stages of its development was the search for new teachers. In February, we announced an open call for teachers with interesting and innovative approaches to teaching and learning art by children. After that, several of the candidates we selected took part in an educational intensive on working with children, which took place in April - and based on its results, we selected the participants to develop the project's program for 2023.
The participants listened to two lectures by Lidia Trinozhenko, director of the Lviv-based children's art studio Kalyaky-Malyaki, and Mykola Kolomiets, director of the Aza Nizi Maza art studio for children and adults in Kharkiv.
It seems to us that the conversation was quite informative and the exchange of experience was comprehensive, because our speakers highlighted two important aspects of working with children: on the one hand, an original approach to classes to get kids interested in contemporary art in practice, and on the other hand, to help a child find himself or herself in this world through creativity, not to “educate and teach” but to “hear and make friends.”
By the way, this is the goal of our project “Artsvit for Kids”. We don't teach painting, no. But we do introduce children to the multifaceted and interesting world of contemporary art and strive to disprove the idea that it is super difficult to understand or boring. On the contrary, we are convinced that through art a child will get to know the world better and acquire various skills that will be useful in adult life and in any profession, even technical ones.
We will find out soon what this magical “Artsvit for Kids” will look like in 2023! Keep your finger on the pulse, in short.
