We are incredibly happy to invite you to the opening of the last exhibition of this year! And how fortunate that it is filled with joy, unbridled imagination and positive emotions that we all cherish in anticipation of the future, because the authors of the works are children.
This exhibition is the result of the work of participants in the educational art programme ‘Artsvit for Kids 2023’. First of all, you will see a series of drawings and various art objects, including even still frames from cartoons created by children. You can view them thanks to augmented reality — using an online application, when you point your smartphone at the wall with an animated frame, the picture comes to life.
However, at this exhibition, each child is not only the author of the works presented, but also becomes a real curator of this joint exhibition for their parents. Viewers will also be able to try their hand at creating something similar to what the children did: constructing a mask, drawing a comic, inventing a cartoon or shadow theatre character — there will be a separate workshop location for this. And the children will help you to do this, to be an artist in the Artsvit gallery space!
But there is art that can only be seen at a specific moment and never again — we are talking about performance art. During the classes, the children not only sat working on their masterpieces, but also moved around a lot: they practised various games and movement exercises, learned to understand and feel their own bodies, and how to use them to create. The vernissage itself will begin with their collective performance called ‘Apple.’ This is an experimental work in which children explored the apple as: an art object; an instrument that choreographs the artist; a multitude of meanings and associations.
The exhibition will also feature vytynanky created by young people at one of the special workshops, and their activities will be finalised by an interactive object — a flipchart with questions asked by the course participants themselves and a place for the answers they found during the classes. Visitors can also add their own thoughts.
From the course for parents, we are presenting viewers with a workbook that summarises all the topics discussed in the theoretical lectures, namely the main theses and practical advice on how to gradually, step by step, introduce more and more art into the context of children's lives.
Authors and teachers of the project: Alina Shtefan, Ksenia Romashchenko, Yulia Grishina, Oleksandra Shovkun, and Polina Rode-Fuyor.
