On August 16, two artists from Odessa will visit us, namely Sofia Golubeva and Liliya Nebera — after which the project will take a short break.
During the lecture, Sofia will share her experience of living in two countries — Germany and Ukraine, and will talk about her creative path — from her master's degree at NAOMA in 2022 to the present. She will also present key projects of recent years — both home self-organized exhibitions and museum exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad. Liliya will talk about the changing perception of artistic practice, her early work, and her latest projects.
Sofia Golubeva is an artist who lives and works between Odessa and Berlin. She works with painting, graphics, mosaics, ceramics and installations. In her work, she explores memory, loss and vulnerability - both personal and collective. The themes of her projects are home, family ties, the impact of war on space and corporeality. She pays special attention to the transformations of the language of painting in the digital age.
Liliya Nebera is an artist who, in her artistic practice, turns to dreams, mystical and religious practices, and enduring cultural images. Liliya reinterprets sensory experience through symbols, transforming social and existential issues into surreal images. She received a degree in cultural studies. She works with painting, graphics, clay and installations. Author of the zine “Dream”. Curator at “Dniprostir”. Five months ago she moved from Odessa and currently lives and works in Dnipro.
