‘About Art Here and Now’ — a new course for young people as part of the ‘'Artsvit for Kids’ programme!

As part of the new Artsvit for Kids programme, we have a separate course for young people aged 14 to 18 called About Art Here and Now.

The programme consists of lectures and discussions about contemporary Ukrainian art and workshops with guest artists and representatives of the local art community.

During the lecture part, you will learn: what contemporary art is, where you can find it in Ukraine, in what capacity you can interact with it, and what variety of art project formats exist. And the most important questions: how to view art, talk about it, and why to attend cultural events.

In addition to lectures and discussions, young participants in the programme will be able to try their hand at being artists and learn about different techniques in practice during workshops. Using the Art World Gallery collection as an example, you will also learn how a collection is formed and how works of art are used, stored and catalogued.

The aim of the course is to introduce teenagers to the contemporary Ukrainian art system and help them understand how it works, what it consists of and who is involved in it. To show how relevant and interesting art projects are, and how art can be used to look at the world from a different angle and reflect on/analyse current events. To prove that talking about art is easy and interesting. To engage the younger generation in conversations about art and make attending cultural events a part of their everyday lives.

Classes will be held every Saturday, starting on 7 October at 4 p.m. In the first class, we will talk about contemporary art and what it is in general. Join the discussion at the link. Registration is required!

WHEN: Saturday, 7 October, 4 p.m.
WHERE: Artsvit Gallery, 21a Krutohirnyy Uzviz. Entrance through the central door on the Krutohirnyy Uzviz side

Admission is free. The number of participants is limited!

Next Wednesday, we’re opening an audiovisual installation based on your stories about Dnipro

“The Museum of Forgetting” is a series of projects combining research with artistic expression. It focuses on forgetting as a counterform of memory: the repression of traumatic experiences, the conscious ‘purification’ of the unwanted, gradual disappearance through physical decay, or transformation dictated by the need for renewal. These processes are viewed as multidimensional — material, ideological, collective and personal, yet both mundane and tragic.

Waldemar Tatarchuk returns to Dnipro for the closing of his exhibition and will conduct a tour!

This will be the last day of the exhibition — a kind of finale and, at the same time, an opportunity to see the project and hear about it directly from its author. During the tour, the artist will guide visitors through the exhibition and talk about the ideas behind it, as well as his collaboration with Ukrainian artists, which has become an important part of this project.
