We remind you that on December 19, at 6:30 PM, there will be an artist talk with Waldemar Tatarczuk, who, as part of the exhibition “When I am in Ukraine, I am asked about Poland. When I am in Poland, I am asked about Ukraine,” presents his own artistic work, as well as new works created in collaboration or in dialogue with Ukrainian artists.
This exhibition opens up to the Ukrainian audience the multifaceted creative identity of the Polish artist, whose practice has always developed performatively: from artistic to curatorial and organizational, and back to artistic. The conversation will focus on these life and artistic trajectories, which from the beginning were directed eastward and eventually led the author to the Dnipro.
Waldemar Tatarczuk (born 1964, Siemiatycze, Poland) is a multidisciplinary artist whose main media are performance and installation. He began his active artistic practice in 1988, creating works in Europe, North America and Asia. He founded the Performance Center in Lublin (1999–2010) and was the director of the city gallery Labyrinth (2010–2025). Tatarchuk was a participant in the Lviv festival "Week of Contemporary Art", and in particular co-organized the "Days of Performance Art in Lviv", where he acted as a curator and teacher of the "School of Performance".
The conversation will be moderated by Kateryna Yakovlenko, co-curator of the exhibition "When I am in Ukraine, I am asked about Poland. When I am in Poland, I am asked about Ukraine", writer and editor-in-chief of the website Suspilne Kultura.
