On June 7 at 3:00 PM, an Open Doors will be held by Shevchenko State Art School at the Artsvit gallery.
The Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State Art School has announced enrollment for the 2026–2027 academic year.
The School invites parents of children aged 9–13 to a meeting with the acting director of the School, artist Alevtina Kakhidze, as well as art teachers Ivan Frolov and Tetiana Kalapskaya.
During the meeting, you will be able to listen about:
- how the school is structured;
- how the art and general education programs are combined;
- what areas are available to students;
- how training is organized for children from other cities;
- how admission is carried out.
A master class will be held for children in parallel.
At the school, training is structured as a gradual professional immersion in art. From grade 5, students complete the academic base: drawing, painting, and composition. From grade 8, they can choose a direction — painting, sculpture, or ceramics. From grade 9, an architectural direction is also added. In parallel, children complete a full general education program.
The Taras Shevchenko Kyiv State Art School has existed for over 80 years. During this time, an environment has been formed here where teenagers consciously prepare for a creative profession. Workshops, reviews of works, first exhibitions are an important part of the educational process.
If your child constantly draws, sculpts, constructs, or carefully examines the architecture and details of the city, perhaps this is where this hobby can grow into a profession.
In early December 2025, it became known about the appointment of artist Alevtina Kakhidze to the position of director of the school. This decision caused discussion among the parent community and the professional environment. The Ministry of Culture then noted that the department “adheres to a balanced approach and ensures openness to any possible changes exclusively within the framework of current legislation.”
