We finish talking about the participants of the latest addition to the Secondary Archive project — "Women Artists at War". We are grateful to everyone involved in the creation of its second edition, as well as those interested in our work. However, it is still ongoing and more formats and new research will be waiting for you in the future, so stay tuned!
♦ Kateryna Aliinyk has lived and worked in Kyiv since 2016 with an academic background in fine arts, utilising mediums like painting and writing. The artist’s connection to Ukraine shapes many aspects of her creative expression. Through the mentioned mediums, she navigates the complexities of her identity, desires and the shifting landscape of her home.
♦ Vkitoriia Rozentsveih is a multi-disciplinary artist from the Kherson region, interacting with the notion of form and utilising traditional graphic methods with contemporary printing technologies. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally with a recent solo exhibition in Warsaw. Her art explores themes of displacement and personal history, often referring to her memory of a home in the practice.
♦ Karina Synytsai comes from the Luhansk region but currently resides and works in Kyiv. She focuses on the intersection of the social aspect and the individual persona while immersing herself in the narratives of war and displacement, using painting as a medium. Drawing on the experiences of invasion, her work reflects on the idea of mobility and the fragility of memory in the wake of traumatic events. She positions herself as an observer of events and societal changes that occur around her.
