The day has come! We are announcing the second charity raffle as part of Olia Fedorova's exhibition ‘Love | Rage’ and we have a super powerful prize for you — a work entitled ‘Welcome to the Motherland’!
A few words about the prize itself: ‘Welcome to the Motherland’ is part of the artist's ongoing project ‘Signs of the Roadless’ — a series of landscape interventions, which currently consists of four episodes.
The art objects are manufactured in a factory according to the standards of real road signs. The artist travels with them and installs them in empty landscapes in order to emphasise the emptiness of the environment on the one hand, and to give it new meaning on the other. The signs are installed for a short time and then disappear without a trace.
Olya first installed this sign on the outskirts of her hometown of Kharkiv in April 2021. With the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, this field became a battlefield, and the sign was hung on the wall of a cellar where the artist, along with her family, neighbours and pets, hid from heavy bombing. The sign hung there throughout the spring of 2022.
