To talk about art, we invited Mashika Vysedska, who will talk about her urban research, and Mykyta Lyskov, who will share his practice of working with the urban environment, how contemplating the Dnieper helps an artist create meanings and narratives. He will also show photos, videos, and drawings depicting our city.
Mashyka Vysedska is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist, a participant in exhibitions in Ukraine, Europe and the USA. Mashyka’s main media are drawing, photography and text. In her practice, the artist depicts her own version of reality, reflects on everyday life, ponders loneliness, self-sufficiency and identity, the sense of home, roots and family.
Born and raised in Bakhmut, Donetsk region, studied at the medical university in Luhansk, lived for one year in occupied Luhansk (2014-15 academic year), then transferred to the medical university in Kramatorsk, and finally dropped out at the end of 2016 to work as a freelance illustrator. After the full-scale invasion, she lived in Europe with her children for several months, and then moved to Frankivsk, where she has been living for three years.
Mykyta Lyskov is an artist, teacher, and author of the animated film "Love". Born and lives in Dnipro, he works closely with the theme of his hometown, trying to comprehend it through art.
