The NGO Kultura Medialna, in collaboration with the Artsvit Gallery, has announced an open call for artists to participate in an art residency in Dnipro. During the residency, artists aged 18-25 who are taking their first steps in art will be able to attend a series of educational events and work on their own projects.
The residency programme will focus on issues and problems faced by artists who are just starting their creative journey. We will talk about opportunities in art, participation in residencies and competitions, interaction with institutions, the importance of working with context, the specifics of presenting oneself as an artist, and much more.
The residency will last two weeks, from 20 July to 6 August. It will include lectures, workshops, discussions, and meetings with other artists, representatives of cultural institutions, and grassroots initiatives. Lectures will be held several times a week on weekdays, and intensive courses and workshops are planned for the weekends.
Artists who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for residency:
— currently reside in Dnipro or nearby;
— are between the ages of 18 and 25 (if your age differs from the specified range, you may still apply, but preference will be given to applicants in this age group);
— work in the field of contemporary art, in particular painting, collage, photography, video, sound design, installation, performance or other relevant practices;
— are taking their first steps in art and do not know where to start in order to develop as an artist.
Eight artists will take part in the residency, selected through an open call. At the end of the project, participants will be able to present the works they have been working on during the residency at a final event.
To apply, fill out the form at: http://bit.ly/3WNwrDZ.
Applications will be accepted until 30 June inclusive. The results will be announced on 10 July by email.
The residency is organised by the NGO Kultura Medialna and the Artsvit Gallery, with the support of the New Democracy Fund and the Dansk Kulturinstitut / Danish Cultural Institute.
