Thanks for spending 2025 with Artsvit Gallery!

In 2025, Artsvit Gallery focused its attention on exhibition projects and representing artists, their art, and its own art collection. Educational projects for children, young people, and adults remained a constant focus for the institution.

For the second year in a row, we began our work with the opening of the World Press Photo exhibition, and we are very grateful to the organisers and partners of the project for their trust and the opportunity to present the best examples of photojournalism and documentary photography of 2023 in Dnipro. The exhibition featured 129 photographs documenting war, protests, migration and climate crises, and other important events, including two series of photographs about Ukraine.

In total, we implemented six exhibition projects in 2025: in addition to the aforementioned World Press Photo 2024, there were two solo exhibitions – ‘Warm Optics’ by Lucy Ivanova and ‘Welcome to Paradise’ by Karina Synytsia, and Nikita Kadan's curatorial project Looking into the Gaps II, a multi-layered exhibition bringing together the works of over 70 artists, revealing the diversity of contemporary Ukrainian art, the non-linearity of its history and, at the same time, the multidimensionality of the connections between artists of different periods. an exhibition by Polish artist and curator Waldemar Tatarchuk, When I am in Ukraine, everyone asks me about Poland. When I am in Poland, everyone asks me about Ukraine,‘ which reveals his multifaceted creative identity to the Ukrainian audience and at the same time is a testament to his ongoing partnership and dialogue with the Ukrainian art community; and a collective statement by the participants of the educational programme for young people ’Gallery Lab,‘ compiled from works in our collection, entitled ’Dnipro. The River of Memory."

It is worth noting that this year we continued to work with local youth. Our educational course ‘Gallery Lab’ had two important objectives: first, to reveal the behind-the-scenes work of the gallery, to show the process of creating an exhibition project from the inside, which is the result of teamwork, to give an opportunity to try all stages of preparing a group exhibition — from the formation of the concept to the actual opening, and secondly, to present the Artsvit Gallery's art collection to a wide audience.

We have not forgotten our young artists either – in 2025, the Artsvit for Kids educational programme added two new courses: StoryLab: Biology of Fairy Tales, in which children explored fantastic stories through the prism of science and vice versa, and ‘Those Who Pull Stories Out of Boxes’ — a unique journey through imaginary worlds, in which anyone who loves to read could be the author of the story and its hero. The theme of books was also continued in a separate course for adults, Where Do Readers Grow? — a series of conversations and discussions about the supportive power of reading aloud. With this project, we sought to provide parents with tools for spending quality time with their children and help them make reading an easy everyday habit.

This year, we looked for new opportunities to talk about artists and showcase their art. One such opportunity was our experimental project ‘Art Speaks,’ which was very warmly received by our audience. It consisted of eight artist talk meetings with several artists participating, whom we grouped according to common themes, styles, or media. As a result, we welcomed 17 artists, who were selected through an open call — we received almost 50 proposals, with representatives from both the local art community and from different parts of Ukraine and even from abroad. The aim of the project is not only to discover new names and provide a platform for self-presentation, but also to create a space for meeting other artists in order to bring the art community together, help form connections, and establish communication between artists for possible collaborations and new projects.

In 2025, we held many public events — artist talks, lectures, excursions, and many film screenings. We also took care of our online audience – our YouTube channel features numerous recordings of these events for those who were unable to join us in person. We also launched a gallery channel on Telegram to make it easier for our visitors to receive updates about Artsvit.

Yes, some of our ideas and projects have remained unrealised: power cuts caused by enemy shelling have certainly been and continue to be a major challenge for us, especially in cold weather when blackouts are most prolonged and frequent, forcing us to close the gallery for the entire working day several times a week. However, we continue to work and persevere because we are together. Despite all the difficulties associated with Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we are looking for opportunities and resources to work.

We sincerely thank everyone who has been with us this year: curators for their fruitful cooperation, artists for their creativity and trust, and partners for their support. And, of course, we bow low to our defenders, volunteers, medics, rescuers, and energy workers, who have remained unbreakable for all these four years, for the sake of all Ukrainians ♥
