On 25 January, there will be an online presentation of artist Lada Nakonechna's catalogue Disciplined Vision with the participation of the artist herself, authors Kateryna Badyanova, Oksana Barshynova, and Iryna Polikarchuk, director of the Artsvit Gallery.
The broadcast will take place on the Artsvit gallery's Facebook page, starting at 6:30 p.m. The presentation will last 1 hour. You can leave your questions and comments under the video conference, so join us at the link.
The publication is based on two exhibitions by Lada Nakonechna, Disciplined Vision and Disciplined Vision. School, which took place in 2021 at the National Art Museum of Ukraine (Kyiv) and the Artsvit Gallery (Dnipro).
In the first project, Lada Nakonechna focused on the late 1930s and, drawing on archival materials and works from the NAMU collection, explored the ability of art to shape a certain shared vision. The artist was interested in the landscape genre and revealing its role in ‘constructing’ perception.
In Disciplined Vision. School, the artist shifted her focus to art education. As the artist points out, the Soviet period laid the foundation for art schools as a tradition and as an educational system. Various art schools, not always consciously, continue to reproduce old guidelines and patterns that often defend the exclusive truth of any ideology.
The catalogue is accompanied by texts written by authors who offer a critical analysis of exhibitions, artistic methods, and individual works by the artist from different years.
