How to explain the World to a newborn?

We invite children aged 7 to 10 to a special lesson within the framework of the exhibition "Warm Optics" from its author, an artist originally from Dnipro, Lucy Ivanova.

How to draw a crocodile? What is a drawing? What is paint? What is a painted crocodile? What is a real crocodile? And how to explain all this to the crocodile itself? Or to someone who is completely new here? Let's think together about how everything works and draw it!

Lyusya Ivanova — born in 1989 in Dnipro. She studied at the Dnipropetrovsk Theater and Art College in the studio of Hryhoriy Cherneta. Later, she graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv, where she worked in the studio of Vasyl Hurin. Her specialty is “Easel Painting”. She had solo exhibitions at Kahan Art Space in Vienna (2023) and Budapest (2024). Lucy’s works were presented at Liste Art Fair (2022) and Vienna Contemporary (2023, 2024). Before the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, she lived in Kyiv. She lives and works in Vienna.

“The Museum of Forgetting” is a series of projects combining research with artistic expression. It focuses on forgetting as a counterform of memory: the repression of traumatic experiences, the conscious ‘purification’ of the unwanted, gradual disappearance through physical decay, or transformation dictated by the need for renewal. Waldemar Tatarchuk returns to Dnipro for the closing of his exhibition and will conduct a tour!

This will be the last day of the exhibition — a kind of finale and, at the same time, an opportunity to see the project and hear about it directly from its author. During the tour, the artist will guide visitors through the exhibition and talk about the ideas behind it, as well as his collaboration with Ukrainian artists, which has become an important part of this project.
