From theory to practice: educational intensive for teachers of the "Artsvit for Kids" project continues

The new iteration of the Artsvit for Kids project is definitely happening! An important stage of its development is currently underway, namely the search for teachers.

As a reminder, in February we held an open call and selected several candidates. And last week, on 8 April, they had the first part of an intensive training course on working with children — based on the results of which we will select two participants to develop the project programme for 2023.

To date, the teachers have already listened to two lectures — by Lidiia Trynozhenko, director of the Lviv studio of children's creativity Kalyaki-Malyaki, and Mykola Kolomiets, head of the art studio for children and adults Aza Nizi Maza in Kharkiv.

We believe that the conversation was quite meaningful, and the exchange of experience was comprehensive, as our speakers highlighted two important aspects of working with children: on the one hand, an original approach to classes in order to interest children in contemporary art in practice, and on the other hand, helping children find themselves in this world through creativity, not by ‘educating and teaching’ but by ‘listening and befriending.’

Incidentally, this is also the goal of our project ‘“Artsvit” for Kids’. We don’t teach children how to draw. Instead, we introduce them to the multifaceted and interesting world of contemporary art and strive to refute the notion that it is too complex to understand or boring. On the contrary, we are convinced that through art, children can better understand the world and acquire various skills that will be useful in adult life and in any profession, even technical ones.

What will this magical ‘“Artsvit for Kids”’ be like in 2023? We will find out soon! Stay tuned, in other words.

Next Wednesday, we’re opening an audiovisual installation based on your stories about Dnipro

“The Museum of Forgetting” is a series of projects combining research with artistic expression. It focuses on forgetting as a counterform of memory: the repression of traumatic experiences, the conscious ‘purification’ of the unwanted, gradual disappearance through physical decay, or transformation dictated by the need for renewal. These processes are viewed as multidimensional — material, ideological, collective and personal, yet both mundane and tragic.

Waldemar Tatarchuk returns to Dnipro for the closing of his exhibition and will conduct a tour!

This will be the last day of the exhibition — a kind of finale and, at the same time, an opportunity to see the project and hear about it directly from its author. During the tour, the artist will guide visitors through the exhibition and talk about the ideas behind it, as well as his collaboration with Ukrainian artists, which has become an important part of this project.
