One of the works from the Artsvit Gallery collection was included in the exhibition ‘Kaleidoscope of (Hi)stories. Ukrainian Art 1912–2023’ at the Albertinum Museum in Dresden.

We would like to share with you a teaser for an interesting exhibition on modern and contemporary art from Ukraine — ‘Kaleidoscope of Stories. Ukrainian Art 1912-2023’. It is presented by the Dresden State Art Collections (SKD) Albertinum. The opening will take place on 6 May, and the exhibition will run until 10 September, so if you happen to be in Dresden right now, we highly recommend visiting it.

This is the first project of its kind in Germany, bringing together works from a wide variety of artistic fields: painting, sculpture, photography, installation, video, graphics and archives by around 50 artists.

The exhibited works give an insight into Ukraine's turbulent past and present. Alongside new works by contemporary artists, some historical works are travelling abroad for the first time.

The exhibition has been assembled from private collections and museums such as the National Art Museum of Ukraine, the Odessa Art Museum, the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art, the Stedley Art Foundation, the Maria Prymachenko Family Foundation, the Dovzhenko Centre and the Museum of Contemporary Art NGO. The exhibition is also complemented by exhibits from the Art Collection Telekom and the Art Library of the German Bundestag. The exhibition also features one work from the Artsvit Gallery collection — ‘Maria’ from the series ‘During the War’ (2016) by David Chichkan. We will tell you more about it later.

This will be the last day of the exhibition — a kind of finale and, at the same time, an opportunity to see the project and hear about it directly from its author. During the tour, the artist will guide visitors through the exhibition and talk about the ideas behind it, as well as his collaboration with Ukrainian artists, which has become an important part of this project.

Soon, the Artsvit Gallery will launch a website about its collection

We often talk about the Artsvit Gallery collection, and sometimes you can see its works at exhibitions in different cities of Ukraine and even abroad. However, most of the time it remains closed — not only to the general public, but also to the professional community.

That is why we want to change this: we are currently working on an online platform that will make our art collection visible and more accessible — for curators, artists, researchers, and viewers. The future website will make it easier to find works, research them, and discover new opportunities for creative collaboration.
