Meet three more artists who joined the Secondary Archive project «Women Artists in War»

It's time to introduce you to three more artists whose essays were included in the latest addition to the online platform Secondary Archive "Artists at War", meet:

Anna Ivchenko splits her time between Kyiv and Berlin, she is an interdisciplinary artist, and musician, her work is made up of performance, sound installations as well as moving image art. She aims to commemorate collective experiences through solitary art pieces, each telling the story of a specific group. Ranging from war and social phenomena to articulating the voices of rivers, which serve as the essential element of our ecosystem.

Lucy Ivanova is a visual artist, a painter, she considers twofold ways in which contemporary art can be approached today – through immersion and from a distance. Her art reflects her experience of escaping the Russian invasion in Ukraine, capturing the emotional struggle and separation from her family. She observes how war has transformed her identity while analysing the topic of family, displacement and immediate environment. The artist is weaving the stories of personal life and giving others a glimpse into her world.

Inga Levi is an interdisciplinary artist working with graphics, mosaic, installation and other media. Her academic background is in book illustration, although since the war she continues to explore fine arts further. The experience of invasion fueled her to openly approach the topic of the conflict in art. With the necessity to find refuge outside of Ukraine, she began to reflect on the meaning of home. Since the invasion, the topic of her work has been occupied with her home country and the desire to preserve and commemorate its history and heritage.

The #secondaryarchive is a digital, constantly expanding archive that presents the history of Central and Eastern European art from the perspective of its women creators.

The project ‘Secondary Archive. Women Artists in War’ is supported by the European Union as part of the House of Europe program and realised in partnership with Katarzyna Kozyra Foundation and Galeria Labirynt.

The Open Call for Residency in Performative Practices

Together with the residency curator, Waldemar Tatarczuk, we propose to explore performance as an intermedial method of artistic practice — one that allows for experimental approaches to creative processes where action, time, presence, and lived experience become the material.

We welcome applications from performers, theatre practitioners, and people open to collective experimentation with backgrounds in visual arts, contemporary music, DJing, generative media, writing, drag, and other artistic disciplines.
